News release details

Put your best face forward for Canada 150. Visitors to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) later this week can participate in an interactive photo mosaic that will cover their face with iconic Canadian imagery and project it onto the wall in Museum's welcome hall.

The faces are overlaid with a beautiful Canadian landscape or iconic scene. Afterwards, the images are added to a projected video mosaic called "We are Canada," made up of all the faces of visitors who contribute to this technological art installation.

The interactive projection will be onsite from Thursday, June 22 through Canada Day on Saturday, July 1. There is no charge to enter the Museum's welcome hall or to participate in the projection activity.

On Canada Day, the Museum will be open until 7 p.m., with a special offer of $5 admission all day long, and special family programming throughout the building.

Visitors for the next two weeks can also embark on a foodie journey across Canada at ERA Bistro. Each day from June 18 through July 1, "The Great Canadian Tour" features a special meal and cocktail inspired by a different province or territory – for example, salmon and wine for BC, venison with Saskatoon berries for Saskatchewan, or lobster and beer for PEI. See full menu here.

The food tour culminates in a "Great Canadian Menu" on July 1 featuring poutine, bannock, tourtière, salmon and corn‐squash‐bean soup, with Caesar cocktails. ERA Bistro is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (until 8 p.m. on Wednesdays) and weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Canada Day, it will be open until 6:30 p.m.
