Experience an unforgettable evening of art, light and connection during Nuit Blanche 2026 at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on Saturday, September 26.

From 6 p.m. to midnight, explore Currents at the Group Entrance. This site‐responsive installation, conceived by Anna Binta Diallo for Nuit Blanche at the Museum, features sculptural figures, shifting coloured light, shadow and original sound. The work explores ancestry as something in motion, a living current carried through landscapes, generations, memory and time.

Sculptural figures from Diallo’s Shapeshifter series become conduits for light, producing overlapping shadows and changing fields of colour across the surrounding architecture. An original sound composition extends this sense of movement through the space. As visitors circulate among the figures, their own bodies enter and interrupt the illuminated environment.

Developed in dialogue with the Museum’s At the Knees of Our Ancestors exhibit and the ongoing Ancestors Project initiative aimed at enriching Black content, programming and community engagement, Currents approaches ancestry through transmission: what is inherited does not remain unchanged. It moves, accumulates, transforms and continues.

Inside the Museum, the evening continues with an eclectic lineup of entertainment curated by Trinnipeg in Bonnie & John Buhler Hall on Level 1. Guests will enjoy live performances, creative energy and an atmosphere that celebrates Winnipeg’s vibrant artistic community. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site, making the Museum the perfect gathering place for friends, families and art lovers alike.
