From March 23–31, kids 12 and under enjoy free admission to the CMHR.
Throughout the week, activities and entertainment will celebrate Indigenous stories and ways of being, inspire conversation on human rights or tap into the universal language of music and movement.
Children’s books related to human rights will be available for families to read. Staff will read aloud a featured book every hour and will alternate between English and French stories.
This activity consists of crafts that share how art can be used to advocate for human rights in three different ways: art as community, art as memory and art as action. Each station will also point visitors to an example of that kind of art in the Museum galleries.
Spring reawakens the trees, and we are reminded that our relationship with our Earth Mother is precious and must be protected. Visitors of all ages are invited to write down something they can do to help the earth and hang their message on a paper tree in Bonnie & John Buhler Hall. (Materials used for this project will be recyclable.)
Join early childhood music instructor Donna Linklater in fun musical activities and try out a variety of musical instruments!
Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts enhances communities by providing accessibility and excellence in music education.

Join members of the local hip hop and breakdance community as they bump family‐friendly tunes and provide short breakdancing classes for children and youth of all ages!

TiBert et Douzie are a multi‐talented duo of artists who will take young and old listeners on a compelling journey of thoughts and emotions with every tune and story. Douzie uses his trusty fiddle and turntable to play old traditional tunes with a modern twist while master storyteller and juggler TiBert gets everyone to join the jam with his jaw harp and a variety of traditional percussion instruments. As members of l’Union nationale métisse Saint‐Joseph du Manitoba, TiBert et Douzie are well established within the French Métis community. They will get you dancing and make your heart sing of joie de vivre! This activity will be offered in English and French.
Join Meraki Theatre for a day of activities and theatre games, followed by a presentation at 3:00 p.m. This activity will be offered in English and French.
Engage with some traditional teachings and learn why the ground on which we live is called Turtle Island. Then weave a cute and colourful baby turtle to take home.
Marilyn will share traditional Cree teachings about the Tree of Life, how we are all interconnected and how strength grows in diversity. Participants can experience the teaching by creating a beautiful button art tree to take home.
