The Philippine‐Manitoba Historical Society (PMHSI) is proud to present Balik‐Tanaw: Martial Law at 50, a special event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the declaration of military rule by former President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.

This free all‐day event will feature an opening gathering with remarks from PMHSI and
Isha Khan, CEO of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, an exhibit on the martial law era, a virtual tour of the interactive website For Democracy and Human Rights, two screenings of the feature‐length documentary The Kingmaker and an evening of cultural celebration.

The featured guest speaker for the event is Ms. Marichu Antonio, a martial law survivor. Antonio was the recipient of 2020 Calgary’s Citizen of the Year Award, as well as the Queen's Jubilee Medal in 2017. She will be available for questions during the second film screening.

The evening cultural celebration include musical performances, poetry and more.
