A showcase of vibrant dancing and drumming by diverse Asian‐Canadian and Indigenous performers will be held at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) this Sunday to mark the end of Asian Heritage Month.

This free event will begin with a welcome by Art Miki, president of the Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba, and remarks by Senator Vivienne Poy, who introduced the 2002 motion that led to the Government of Canada designating each May as Asian Heritage Month.

WHAT: Asian Heritage Month performances

WHEN: Sunday, May 27, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: Bonnie & John Buhler Hall, Canadian Museum for Human Rights, 85 Israel Asper Way

In Manitoba, the Asian Heritage Society – consisting of representatives from the Filipino, Chinese, Indian, Indo‐Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese communities – plan activities to share Asian culture each May. They include performances by Indigenous artists to demonstrate a connection to Canada and respect for Indigenous peoples. Performers in this Sunday's showcase include: Indigenous hoop dancing with Rylee Sandberg; Great Wall Performing Arts School; India School of Dance; Korean 5 Drum Dance with Yeyoung Won; Rhythm of Indonesia; and Fubuki Daiko.
