New hours and extended evenings announced

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is getting ready for its first experience with the busiest tourism season in Manitoba. A new schedule of hours for spring and summer has been announced today.

All through July and August, and including Labour Day in September, the Museum will be open seven days a week instead of closing on Mondays. The Museum opens at 10 a.m. every day and closes at 5 p.m. every day except Wednesdays, when visitors are welcome into the evening.

Starting May 6, Wednesday evening hours will be extended by an hour to 9 p.m. This will provide evening visitors with more time to explore the expansive spaces of the Museum – which include 11 galleries on seven levels connected by a kilometre of glowing alabaster ramps, a panoramic view from the Israel Asper Tower of Hope, the quiet beauty of the Stuart Clark Garden of Contemplation, the welcoming atmosphere of Bonnie & John Buhler Hall, the unique fair‐trade Boutique, and the culinary fare of ERA Bistro.

Free evenings, which are currently offered on the first Wednesday of each month, will be suspended during July, August and September. The monthly free evening will resume on Wednesday, October 14.

In addition, the Museum will not be open during the evening on Wednesday, April 22; Wednesday, April 29; Wednesday, May 27; or Wednesday, October 7 in order to accommodate pre‐booked private events. The Museum will close at 5 p.m. on those dates.
