News release details

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is partnering with Volunteer Manitoba to highlight important organizations in need of volunteers.

This Friday, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., dozens of organizations will have tables set up in Bonnie & John Buhler Hall to showcase their volunteer opportunities. Guests can explore volunteering in wildlife preservation, literacy, international development, youth mentorship, health care, the arts and much more. A full list of organizations is below.

The fair takes place during National Volunteer Week, an opportunity to celebrate volunteers for donating their time and talents to importance causes. It is also a chance to invite more people to consider volunteering in a time of great need. According to Volunteer Canada, 65% of organizations in Canada are struggling to find volunteers and 35% have had to reduce their services due to the shortage (source).

This event is taking place as part of the CMHR’s Free Friday Nights promotion. Every Friday, gallery admission is free for everyone after 5:00 p.m. and the CMHR is open late until 9:00 p.m.
