Free Saturday Pride Tours in June

Every Saturday in June, the Museum will offer tours at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. highlighting 2SLGBTQI+ content. These tours are included in admission. Visitors are also encouraged to check out the new exhibit on the LGBT Purge in the Canadian Journeys gallery on Level 2, opening just in time for Pride. From the 1950s to the 1990s, thousands of people in the Canadian military, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and federal civil service had their careers stalled or ended because their sexual orientation or gender identity was considered a threat to the country they chose to serve. This extensive violation of human rights, one of the largest and longest‐running in any workforce in Canadian history, has come to be known as the “LGBT Purge.”

An official opening of the LGBT Purge exhibit will take place May 31 with a media invite to follow.
