Juvel (duo performance) – Tuesday, December 26

With the energetic sound of Romani jazz and early swing, Juvel will keep your toes tapping. Heavily inspired by musicians like Django Reinhardt and the Andrews Sisters, they combine the dark, chromatic flavour of Romani music with cheeky, lush harmonies and the carefree liveliness of swing.

Dhiego Costa and Paul Klassen – Wednesday, December 27

Born in Brazil, Dhiego Costa has been playing piano for over 20 years. An accomplished student, Dhiego holds several music degrees from universities in Brazil as well as a master’s degree in jazz piano from the University of Manitoba. Travelling extensively, he has played with Campbellsville University jazz orchestra (USA), the Dhiego Jazz Trio (New Zealand), Marco Castillo and Brazilian Beats, and the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, among others.


Paul Klassen is a Canadian drummer and percussionist with a love for all things Brazilian, jazz and funk. Versatile, adaptable and driven, Paul enjoys playing with many artists and bands from different musical genres and styles. Some of these artists include Ila Barker, Hera, Guylaina Maltais, Freddy and the Fire Nation, and Everything+. His experiences range from touring North America to working as a session drummer.

Connor Derraugh – Thursday, December 28

Over the years, Connor has performed at numerous events including the Winnipeg Jazz Festival, Downtown Concert Series, Music and Mavens, Assiniboine Park’s Jazz in the Garden and Summer Concert Series. He also plays regularly with the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra. He recently released his debut album Acceptance with vocalist Cordelia Donovan, which was produced by Juno nominee Larry Roy.

Zachary Rushing – Friday, December 29

Zachary is a singer, songwriter, lyricist, arts organizer and drag performer who exists comfortably in a myriad of different artistic settings. His musical performances encompass jazz, pop, rock, cabaret songs and more. His original songs pay homage to his first love, the Great American Songbook, while simultaneously offering unique perspectives on contemporary issues.

Carter Graham – Saturday, December 30

For Carter, music has always been an outlet to positively express and share ideas with others. He has performed professionally for over a decade all over North America with jazz luminaries, and now leads his own trio, Free Time, a group dedicated to breathing new life into familiar standards and creating exciting new original music.

Marco Castillo – Sunday, December 31

Upon arriving in Canada from Brazil in 2007, Marco rapidly made an impact on the rich Winnipeg music community. He has collaborated and performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra and plenty of local and international artists, as well as toured in western Canada. Whether leading his full band, Brazilian Beats, or small ensembles, he is a versatile musician and producer.
