Story Time and Book Nook

Children’s books related to human rights will be available for families to read. Staff will read aloud a featured book every hour and will alternate between English and French stories.

Art as Action

This activity consists of crafts that share how art can be used to advocate for human rights in three different ways: art as community, art as memory and art as action. Each station will also point visitors to an example of that kind of art in the Museum galleries.

  • For art as community, kids will create a textile‐based craft and learn about yarn bombing as featured in the Inspiring Change gallery.
  • For art as memory, kids will look at picture books and graphic novels to learn about how art can be used to remember human rights stories, like the fire bag in Indigenous Perspectives.
  • For art as action, kids will make buttons about human rights issues they care about, which will tie to our Beyond the Beat: Music of Resistance and Change exhibition.

Date: March 24
Time: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
