Noir et fier (Black and Proud), a celebration of Black francophone culture in Manitoba and around the world, marks its fourth year under the theme “Words on Wounds” (Mots sur maux).
As a partner in these vibrant and cultural events during Black History Month, the Museum is proud to support and/or host these activities.

Théâtre Cercle Molière Lobby
In the lobby of Noir et fier partner Théâtre Cercle Molière, visitors can experience an exhibit of works that speak to this year’s theme, Words on Wounds. Photos, texts and interviews inpodcast form invite us all to be instruments of denunciation of the systemic racism that still undermines our societies. Every Wednesday and Thursday in February, talented interpreters from the Museum will deliver educational programming to help students from participating schools appreciate the exhibit and its context.

Canadian Museum for Human Rights
As part of Black History Month, the gala celebrates the rich and vibrant heritage of Black communities. The show features Lydol, a slam artist of Cameroonian origin, accompanied by the Dr Henry Band.
