FAQs
Is your facility accessible?
As the first museum solely dedicated to the evolution, celebration and future of human rights, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights prides itself on accessible design. The Accessible Drop‐off Entrance has four parking stalls and brings visitors right to the doors. Additional accessible parking can be found along Israel Asper Way. All entrances are accessible to people using wheeled devices and those who prefer to avoid stairs.
All Museum washrooms are gender‐inclusive. At least one large, accessible, barrier‐free, single‐room washroom is located on each level where events are held. There is a single‐room washroom on Level 1 that is equipped with an adult‐sized change table and motorized transfer lift. Other single‐room washrooms contain baby change tables. Movement between areas can be done by elevator or ramp. Service animals are welcome.
Where can guests park? Is parking included?
Parking is available at lots across from the Museum, in The Forks parkade, or on the street. Four parking stalls are located at the Accessible Drop‐off Entrance. All parking, except for accessible stalls, is paid and costs $2.50 per hour.
All parking paid to The Forks‐North Portage helps to fund activities, amenities, and celebrations on The Forks site. If you would like to pay parking for your guests, please make arrangements with your event coordinator.
Can we bring our own chairs, audiovisual, decorations, etc.? Do you have preferred vendors?
Your vendors are welcome to bring your event to life. We can offer suggestions for vendors that have worked with us in the past, but do not have preferred vendors.
Our staff are not responsible for set‐up or tear‐down of items brought in by external vendors unless specifically arranged, which may be subject to additional charges. These items are not permitted in the Museum: real/fake flower petals, fog/smoke, bubbles, taper candles, helium balloons, confetti/glitter and projectiles.
Can we bring our own caterer?
WOW Catering is our exclusive in‐house catering team, therefore all food must be provided by them. If a specific religious or cultural dietary restriction prevents you from working with WOW, please advise your event and catering coordinators to find optimal solutions.
Can we see the spaces in person?
