As part of Reel Pride's programming, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is proud to host the Canadian premiere screening of The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo, a striking new film from Chile that blends queer western grit with the wonder of a fable.

Eleven‐year‐old Lidia lives with her beloved queer family in a trans brothel perched atop a desolate mining town in northern Chile. Each miner has his favourite “lady of the night” — until an unknown, deadly disease begins to spread, rumoured to pass between two people the moment they fall in love. As the men of the town turn on her family, blaming them as super‐spreaders, Lidia sets out to uncover whether this plague is real, or a phantom born of fear.
