With their soulful and stirring vocals, the Statesmen’s performance celebrates the indomitable human spirit and our ability to persevere and find hope in even our darkest times. The program primarily features Canadian and American composers including Eleanor Daley, Stephen Hatfield, Stephen Smith, Samuel Barber, Moses Hogan, and Leonard Bernstein. The songs vary greatly in style, background and nationality, and will be performed in English, French, and Latin. They all depict the very best in human nature and celebrate our ability to overcome hardship with love and hope for better to come.

For over sixty years, the Statesmen have been a staple on the South Dakota State University campus while also performing extensively on national and international tours. Drawing membership from male and transgender students across all academic departments, the ensemble encourages diversity and inclusivity.
