About the installation:
In Sonic Trails: the Prairies, the sound of environments from locations around Winnipeg are used to produce immersive soundscapes. Sophisticated computer algorithms determine how the sound-paintings evolve. There is no predetermined sequence – every moment is unique.
About the creator:
Örjan Sandred is a composer of both instrumental and computer music. His instrumental works range from scores for symphony orchestra to music for solo instruments. Sandred is a professor of composition at the University of Manitoba, where he founded Studio FLAT for computer music research and production.
