We invite you to visit our website for resources to support human rights education in your classroom, including our Be an Upstander program, the Witness Blanket resource, our resource page and our web stories.

We believe that education is a catalyst for change and that every student should have access to this transformative experience. Our programs are designed to inspire, inform, and engage learners of all ages, fostering a deeper understanding of human rights issues.

Onsite Programs

Our onsite programs are now available for booking through June 2025.

Onsite programs allow students to explore the inspiring architecture of the Museum and engage with interactive exhibits while learning about human rights with our staff.

Virtual Programs

Virtual programs are available for booking up to four months in advance.

Virtual programs bring the Museum to you wherever your students are. While taking students on a journey through the Museum, our staff engage students in discussion and activities about human rights.

How to book your school

  1. Review school programs and tours

    Before you make your request, take some time to explore our different programs and tours to see what’s the best fit for your classroom. Each program and tour deals with different age‐appropriate subject matter.

  2. Submit a Request

    After you’ve found a program or tour you’re interested in, you will need to complete the Education Program Booking Request form. Once your form has been submitted, we’ll contact you to acknowledge we’ve received your request. If you have questions or need help with the form, call us for virtual and onsite programs at 204–289-2253 or 204–289-2000.

  3. Confirm a Visit Date

    In your request form, you’ll list your ideal visit dates which we will review to see if we can accommodate. If your first choice isn’t available, we will see if we can accommodate your second and third choices. Once a date is set, you’ll receive an email confirming your registration, along with a School Booking Contract form.

  4. Sign the School Booking Contract form

    Once you’ve received the School Booking Contract form, please sign and return it to us at school.programs@humanrights.ca for virtual programs and onsite programs. You can also fax it at 204–289-2001. Please note that your booking is not confirmed until we have received this form.

  5. Prepare for Your Visit

    Now that your booking is confirmed, you’ll want to prepare for your visit. Approximately four weeks before your visit, we will send you an information package by email to help you get ready.

Adult supervision

Teachers and adult student‐helpers play an important role in helping us ensure our school programs run smoothly. We will need your help to keep the group together, and to ensure that rules are being followed and behaviour is appropriate. Please also let us know in advance if there any special needs we can accommodate.

Please note the required adult‐to‐student ratios for a school visit:

  • K–6 groups: 1 adult for every 10 students (e.g. 36 students = 4 adults)
  • Grades 7–12 groups: 1 adult for every 15 students (e.g. 36 students = 3 adults)

Payment options

Payment for the contracted number of visitors or negotiated changes up to five (5) business days prior to the tour will be due prior to the start of the tour: $5/person for onsite programs and $125/group for virtual programs. Payment must be completed in one single transaction. For other payment arrangements or questions, please contact school.programs@humanrights.ca.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your group reservation and would like to avoid the cancellation fee (100% of the cost of the tour), you must provide written notice at least five (5) business days prior to your scheduled booking. Please provide your cancellation notice to school.programs@humanrights.ca. In case of inclement weather, this policy does not apply.
