Taking a stand against bullying, discrimination and injustice makes society better for everyone. This special event throws a spotlight on people who did that and made great moments in 2SLGBTQIA+ history.
In partnership with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the Manitoba Museum, Day of Pink invites you to The Re‐Emergence Tour: Celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ Activism and Milestones.
The event features Todd Ross, a survivor of the LGBT Purge who has spent decades advocating for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Todd will share his personal experiences and insights into the ongoing efforts toward justice, reconciliation and inclusion.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the Museum’s new exhibition: Love in a Dangerous Time: Canada’s LGBT Purge. It sheds light on one of the most significant human rights violations in Canada’s history. Across decades, thousands of 2SLGBTQIA+ Canadians were investigated, harassed and fired from their military, RCMP and civil service jobs. The exhibition shares stories about this dark period and about those who fought for justice, paving the way for future generations.
The Love in a Dangerous Time exhibition was developed in concert with the LGBT Purge Fund, of which Todd Ross is co‐chair.
The event is free. Please let us know you’re coming: RSVP here.
International Day of Pink is April 9!
The day has one purpose, to create a more inclusive and diverse world by encouraging young people to challenge social norms, ask more of their educators, and take a stand against bullying towards their 2SLGBTQIA+ peers.
On April 9, wear pink to show your support! Learn more at International Day of Pink.
