Surround yourself with evocative music and stories of human rights as part of the Winnipeg New Music Festival in the community.

This performance by the eXperimental Improv Ensemble (XIE) is an expression of inherent rights to adequate housing, the right to food and access to clean water.

Audience members are encouraged to move around during the performance in order to experience it from different sonic and visual perspectives. 

This free program is offered in partnership with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s New Music Festival.

The eXperimental Improv Ensemble (XIE) is an interdisciplinary performance group of the University of Manitoba Desautels Faculty of Music. Directed by Gordon Fitzell, the ensemble’s activities vary widely, ranging from music for film and dance to telematic concerts and multimedia installations.

The XIE has partnered with organizations such as the Winnipeg New Music Festival, GroundSwell, the Cluster Festival, Cinémathèque and the Winnipeg Film Group, the Museum of Clear Ideas and Amnesty International.
