I Stand Up for Human Rights: images and words

Participate in this engaging activity matching dozens of photos with the 30 articles contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Explore what the Declaration means to you. Match a photo to a right and then post online if you like!

Human Rights Heroes: Self‐portraits

Create a collage with your own photo. Add qualities that make up a human rights defender: wings to fly, powerful legs to run, big eyes to see injustice. Also add kindness, empathy and understanding. Take your
self‐portrait home and show it off.

Animated National Film Board films: ready, set, action!

Discover children’s rights in inspiring stories. Share your thoughts with friends and family. Then, see what they think and imagine what you might do to defend these rights. Children’s rights are human rights!

Spotlight on Mandela: family tour

Take our special 60‐minute children’s tour Spotlight on Mandela to learn through storytelling about Nelson Mandela’s life and work defending human rights. Discover his special connection to Canada. Your guide will also show you related Canadian stories in our other Museum galleries. 

The tour is designed for families with children aged 6 to 12.
