Featured performers:

Grupo Rümel | Chilean Folk Dance Group

Sponsored by the Manitoba Chilean Association Cultural Centre, Grupo Rümel focuses mainly on Chilean folklore music and dances. Officially formed in 2016, the group is divided into a children’s group, an intermediate group and an adult troupe. As the main attraction at the Chile Lindo Pavilion during the Folklorama multicultural festival, the group is active year‐round, performing at private events, homes for seniors and community gatherings. They showcase dances from all over Chile and the Island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island), which has a Polynesian influence. Their passion for music and deep connection to the community shine through every performance!

As well, the group hosts educational workshops and instructional classes in Greek, Pontian and Cypriot dance and song for local youth and adults. Kefi performs at cultural events across North America, including the Edmonton Commonwealth Games. During Folklorama, the group is a feature attraction at the Greek Pavilion. McConnell Irish Dance

As one of the oldest Irish dance troupes in Canada, McConnell Irish Dance was originally founded in Ireland over 100 years ago. A school was established in Winnipeg in 1947, followed by a second location in Brandon, Manitoba. Currently, the schools are under the direction of accomplished dancer and choreographer Shayleen McConnell Finucan and dedicated teaching assistants who trained at the school since they were young. Their world‐class, award‐winning performers are recognized for their high‐calibre, energetic shows which encompass traditional and contemporary forms of Irish dance. A founding member of Folklorama, the troupe performs at festivals and shows around the world, as well as locally for corporate and charitable events.
