Women for a Just Peace – in Palestine, Israel and at home

Sunday, April 26, 2026

Audience members sit in a dimly lit venue watching a presentation, their faces illuminated by stage light. In the foreground, a person with their hair in a bun and wearing a bright red scarf rests their chin on their hand, looking attentively toward the stage. Other attendees sit beside them in soft focus, creating a quiet, contemplative atmosphere as the crowd listens. Partially obscured.

In a time of ongoing conflict, join us for an evening that centres the voices of women working toward peace from both sides of the Israel‐Palestine divide. Hosted by the Winnipeg chapter of Women Wage Peace (WWP), this program brings together dialogue, lived experience and music to explore pathways toward a just and sustainable peace.

Women Wage Peace is a broad, politically unaffiliated, grassroots Israeli movement composed of Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Druze women intent on promoting a non‐violent, respectful and mutually accepted solution to the Israeli‐Palestinian conflict, with the active participation of women through all stages of negotiations. WWP partners regularly with the Palestinian group Women of the Sun and has affiliate chapters around the world, including here in Winnipeg.

Women for a Just Peace — in Palestine, Israel and at Home offers an opportunity to engage with and learn from Palestinian and Jewish activists committed to the pursuit of peace in the Middle East and to the building of bridges between the local Palestinian and Jewish communities.

Keynote: Women’s voices and actions: Humanity, justice and peace

The evening program was developed in collaboration with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and features a keynote address by social justice activist Dr. Amal Elsana Alhjooj. Her keynote, Women’s voices and actions: Humanity, justice and peace, will be followed by a moderated conversation between Dr. Alhjooj and WWP co‐founder Rabbi Donna Kirshbaum. Video messages from Israeli and Palestinian peace activists, calls for action, and a performance by local singer/songwriter Orit Shimoni will further enlighten and entertain those in attendance.

Workshops

For those who wish to deepen their engagement, three workshops organized exclusively by Women Wage Peace with the support of Westworth United Church and New Israel Foundation will take place earlier in the day.
